Music Interviews: Alien Feelings on how they formed their band and more.

Would you guys please introduce yourselves and explain your role in the band?
Hello, we are Alien Feelings. Our lead singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist is Josh Evans. On Bass
we have Tim “The Sex” Jones. Our lead guitarist is Ryan “Red Eyed Jedi” Harrington. And our animal
behind the kit and bedroom doors is Dale Lloyd.

Where did you guys meet and how did you form this band?
It started out when Josh enlisted Dale’s knowledge of music production to help him on his solo
project. They both met whilst Josh was doing solo performances at one of our local pubs. They both
recorded a demo for “Good Looking” at Dale’s house in a single session, and from there felt it
needed to be taken further Ryan and Josh had knew each other for years having attended the same
primary and secondary schools, but it wasn’t until they were both in sixth form that they learned of
each other’s passion for music of a similar genre, and skipping classes to get stoned. I (Ryan) can
remember leaving Josh with my iPod, which had a Ramones cover of “Sufin’ Bird” on it, around
about the time that family guy episode first aired, while I went for dinner. Needless to say the whole
fucking school could hear it, and when I returned we were locked out of sixth form. Anyway, having
previously worked together in a few bands that never lasted more than a practice or three, Josh
invited me along to do a lead track for a track called “Waiting for Better Days”, we did a video which
may still be on our YouTube, but it’s definitely on Facebook. Happy with the results, we were only
missing a bassist. Tim and Dale were friends in school and regularly meet up for a pint in the week.
Tim had never played before but was eager to learn due to his love of music. Tim and I met whilst
working for the same company, and discovered we share a love of skanking to Reel Big Fish and
getting high. After we did our first demos we started practicing, and it wasn’t long before we were
invited to work with The Animal Farm on our debut EP Bondage & Lipstick

What kind of music do you make or would like to make in the future?
People have told us its indie with elements of punk and grunge, I personally think we’re a lot heavier
than most indie stuff musically and subjectively. In the future I’d personally like us to do some ska-
punk stuff, I just love the energy.

What do you enjoy the most about the process of making music together?
I personally enjoy the gigging most of all, as I’d imagine most musicians do. But I find it intriguing
watching Josh just sit there with a guitar and have a skeleton ready for the next song in minutes.

What are some of your favourite themes to explore through your music?
We haven’t done any yet, but I’m a bit of an Iron Maiden fan, and they do a lot on literature and
war, which is something I find very interesting, especially WW2. (I dragged the lads around the
Imperial War Museum on our first visit to London).

Who are some artists that you love or who you’d say has had a huge influence on your work?
I grew up a huge Green Day fan, as a 10 year old they were the reason I first picked up a guitar. I
went to the Milton Keynes gig, which went on to become “Bullet in a Bible” and from then on it was
always the dream. If you’ve ever noticed a big fuck off welsh flag during footage of that show, it was
me, my old man and some friends. Nowadays I’m well into NOFX, Rancid and Reel Big Fish

Where can someone looking for your music, find it?
You can find our debut EP Bondage & Lipstick on all major music streaming services such as spotify
and deezer, we’re also on YouTube, where you can check out the video for “Scream”, which was
made by our very own Josh Evans Here’s a few links

What’s your favourite part about touring/ doing live performances?
Well, if we don’t have a driver, it usually me that does the driving, but the games we play on the
road make the journey alone a highlight. If I’m not driving, then I get to ride the wave of energy we
find ourselves with after our performance and do some drinking. Sometimes too much!

What kind of message would you like to give your fans, through your music?
Never give up, chase those dreams and shit can only get better. 18 months ago, Alien Feeling didn’t
exist!

Where do you guys see yourselves in the future, or what are you future plans for the band?
Hopefully we’ll be able to make a living doing what we love, but, in these uncertain times, we don’t
even know when our next gig is. We’ve got plans to do a live set which will be pre-recorded, with
only the band, a sound engineer and a light tech in attendance, but due to Covid restrictions in North
Wales, have no idea when it will be done, hopefully in the next few weeks, restrictions will ease. In
the meantime, we recently recorded some more demos and are looking to get more done shortly,
with hope of having something new out next year.
